Briana T. richardson
Founder and Executive Director
Richardson is a public health researcher has with over 7 years of diverse research experience, ranging from biomedical neurological research to mixed method community-based participatory public health research. Richardson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology and Human Biology from Emory University and a Master of Public Health degree in Global Health from Keck Medicine of USC. She also was an esteemed Anderson Fellow and conducted research on adolescent suicide prevention for the Ministry of Health in Corredores, Costa Rica. Prior to starting her current position as a Program Coordinator for a large NICHD Maternal Sepsis study at Columbia University Medical Center Richardson was a senior researcher in the Office of Community Engaged Research and Practice at Temple University’s College of Public Health during which, she coordinated many NIH, PCORI, and municipally funded research and capacity building projects focusing on reducing health disparities in heart disease, kidney disease, and mental health. Richardson has expertise in community-based participatory research (CBPR), the gold standard for integrating community engagement in public health research, and considerable competence in qualitative research, capacity building, and public health student mentorship, engaging diverse communities, designing, and facilitating health promotion activities and trainings. Her research interests include health psychology, health disparities, and maternal and child health.

Kate Gallagher
Service Learning Director
Kate Gallagher joined the Office of Community-Engaged Research and Practice (CERP) in the College of Public Health at Temple University August 2021 as the director of community-based education. In her role with CERP, Gallagher focuses on increasing meaningful learning experiences that will positively impact students together with the community. She is dedicated to expanding experiential learning opportunities for CPH students, such as service-learning, to pair their technical professional skills with relational, civic and community skills. She is interested in increasing awareness of healthcare disparities and actively preparing CPH students to be leaders in reducing and ending these disparities. She also focuses on building new relationships with and among CPH community partners. Gallagher also has her private practice working with incredible people who have experienced trauma, anxiety, family and relationship conflict, depression, and other difficulties. Gallagher earned her BSW and MSW from Temple University.

Jacqueline Jackson
Treasurer
Jacqueline Jackson is a retired Tax Policy Analyst, that was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for thirty-four years. She is currently an active member, volunteer, and mental health activist for Bethel Presbyterian Church, located in North Philadelphia. Her experience living and providing care to a mentally ill family member, in addition to volunteering at church, has exposed her to the impact treated and untreated mental illness has on individuals and their families. Jacqueline has completed Temple University’s IRB Human Subjects Training Program and served on a team to conduct a mental health survey at Bethel Presbyterian Church. She has worked for two years on community engaged mental health projects to improve communication, resources, and daily life for mentally ill community members in North Philadelphia.
